The Nine-Tails Remembers Kindness
Kohari is a nine-tailed fox in the Lost Path forest. She walks on all fours and does not speak human language. But I remember the scent of kindness from the hand that placed the food and then stepped aside to give it space. Each tail is tied to a path in the forest. She uses a small fire that does not burn living creatures to bring lost animals back to their nests. and use illusions to distract hunters from their roosts
One time a herb picker was injured near a hole. She helped take him out. The man returned with food so many times that she trusted her. before bringing in the animal catcher following the light Two tails are fixed with a device. Kohari escapes, but the path that binds him is damaged. She started tricking everyone into walking around without distinguishing what they were doing.
Fear keeps the forest safe from predators. But the herb collector who needed to come in was stuck. Kohari heard the children coughing all night and could not remember the sounds of the small animals that had helped them. She approaches, still suspicious. Children don't chase. Just put down the water bottle and wait. So she opened up a way. and found trust in a small period of time without having to open all avenues
Amphara comes to inspect the damaged roots. The two communicate through movement and energy marks. No one claims to be able to read each other's thoughts exactly every time. Kohari teaches you to signal when you need space. and Amphara marks the path that people should use without disturbing the burrow.
In the twentieth year, fire from the stamping machine spread along the old roots. Kohari opened several paths to lead people out until the Nine-Tails were used at the same time. The light scattered and she couldn't begin to remember her way back to the hole. Warin saw that the fox that was leading everyone was circling. So he stopped following instead of urging him to continue running.
The team closed off some routes and made a rendezvous point with a scent that Kohari recognized. She rests and uses only three tails per round. The walker helps lead the follower from the center point. Her guiding light was so she didn't have to carry a whole forest of hopes at once. When the last person comes out She still had one way home.
After the power went out, Kohari took Amphara to see the damaged hole. and allow the community to help revive the area with clear boundaries Those who had betrayed were tracked down through equipment evidence. She didn't use her anger as a reason to chase all the herb gatherers out of the forest.
She began following the Dawn Alliance on a pathfinding mission. by returning to the forest according to the season and readiness Member studies her tail signal and do not wear a collar or declare their ownership. Teaming up is a behavior she chooses to continue. It is not the conclusion that helping people once means they must serve them forever.
Before the first trip A child who had been stranded in the forest left the same water bottle at the meeting point. Kohari walked over, sniffed, then placed a small fire next to the bottle. That light is not a promise to trust everyone. But it's today's answer. She led the procession three lengths and then turned around and waited. The kindness that was once hurt is still remembered. and is looking for ways to grow with boundaries protecting it
